Aaron Thomas,
​MAT, LAT, ATC​

Aaron Thomas completed his Bachelors of Science in Exercise Sport Science at Texas Tech University in 2010. He then completed his Masters in Athletic Training at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in 2012. He has 12 years of experience all as a Head Athletic Trainer. He has worked previously for Crane ISD and Terrell ISD. He is currently the Head Athletic Trainer at John Horn High School in Mesquite ISD where he is in his 10th year. Guns Up!​

Bianca Broughton,

MS,  LAT, ATC,  EMT

Bianca Broughton is in her 7th year as Campus Athletic Trainer at Dallas ISD. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and her Master’s degree from The University of North Texas. She was previously an Assistant Athletic Trainer with North Carolina State University. Bianca strives to bring more awareness to north Texas athletic trainers. When Bianca is not at work, you can find her camping, fishing, watching sports and hanging out with her kids. ​

David Young,
​MEd, LAT

David Young is the Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer for Desoto ISD. “Doc” Young has over 22 years’ of experience working in the High School setting. David is a University of Texas at Arlington graduate where he majored in Kinesiology and minored in Athletic Training; he also has received his Masters degree in Athletic Administration from Texas A&M-Commerce. He has been licensed by the Texas Department of Health since 2002 to practice Athletic Training. As member of the North Texas Athletic Trainers Association he served as the Honors and Awards board chair from 2013 to 2019, and as President from 2020 to 2022. Since working in the secondary setting, David has had 11 students become certified athletic trainers. He and his athletic training student program at DeSoto H.S. were 4x Student Olympic Champions from 2011 to 2014.

Sophia Gutierrez,​
​MS, LAT, ATC

Sophia Gutierrez is a BOC Certified and State Licensed Athletic Trainer. She received her BA in Kinesiology from St. Edward's University, and a Master of Science in Athletic Training from UT-Arlington in 2019. Sophia spent 5 years as the Head Athletic Trainer at Midlothian Heritage High School before becoming the Head AT at The Covenant Dallas in August 2024. Outside of work, you can find her spending time with family, cooking in the kitchen, or traveling to fun new places!

Keysha Brown,
​MS, LAT, ATC
​Keysha Brown is a BOC Certified and State Licensed Athletic Trainer. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and a Masters of Science degree in Health, Kinesiology, and Sports Studies from Texas A&M University-Commerce. She is currently the Head Athletic Trainer for Garland ISD Swimming & Diving. Keysha was previously the Co-Head Athletic trainer at Naaman Forest High School for 12 years. She also served as the Girl’s Athletic Coordinator for two years.

Harley Schweigert
​ MSAT, LAT, ATC
Harley Schweigert is a Board Certified and State Licensed Athletic Trainer. She received her BS in Exercise Science from the University of Mississippi and her MS in Athletic Training from Tarleton State University. She is currently in her 5th year as an Athletic Trainer at Denton Guyer High School. If she is not at work, you can find her hanging out with her husband Tyler and two dogs Lily & Aspen.

Jonathon Brierley,

Jonathon is currently in his 2nd year as an assistant athletic trainer at Forney High School. A graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington and Tarleton State University, Jonathan is a State Licensed and Board Certified Athletic Trainer. Outside of Athletic Training Jonathon is an avid hockey fan, enjoys spending time with his family, and is an active member at LakePointe Church.

Kimberly is entering her 3rd year as a licensed Athletic Trainer at McKinney North High School. Kimberly received her BS in Athletic Training from the University of Mobile and has been in Athletic Training for 11 years. She chose to get involved with NTATS and volunteer her time because Kimberly genuinely loves the students and their passion for learning the craft. She wants to help build an organization that future AT students will find fun, educational and aid in the advancement of this wonderful profession. When not at work, Kimberly enjoys cooking, hiking, and spending time with family & friends.

Brianna Williams,

Brianna Williams is in her 1st year as an assistant Athletic Trainer at Prosper Walnut Grove High School. Brianna received her BS in Kinesiology from LeTourneau University and her MS in Athletic Training at Stephen F. Austin University. She chose to join the NTATS board to help inspire the future of athletic trainers as well as to be involved in the athletic training community. Brianna enjoys self-care, exploring new foods and restaurants and reading in her free time.

Mindy Nelson
MEd, ATC, LAT
Matt, originally from DeSoto, TX, is a highly motivated and experienced Athletic Trainer with a proven track record of providing top-tier care. Matt received his BS in Sports Conditioning from Texas A&M  University and his MS in Athletic Training from Tarleton State University. With expertise in program development, budgeting, and medical coordination, he has excelled in roles that work with youth sports to professional sports. His commitment to elevating standards of healthcare is demonstrated through advocating to administration on behalf of his patients. He holds numerous certification including cupping, flossing and dry needling, he is dedicated to ensuring athletes receive the highest level of care and performance support. ​​

Mindy Nelson completed her BS in Athletic Training/Integrated Physiology at The University of Iowa in 2007. She then completed her Masters in Education in Sport & Fitness Administration at The University of Houston in 2009. Mindy has experience working in the Division I Collegiate setting, managing a busy PM&R and PT clinic, completing EMG/NCV testing on patients, assisting orthopedic surgeons in the office, and outreach/building relationships with local North Texas ATs and EMS agencies through the largest hospital system in North Texas. Mindy enjoys spending time with her husband and watching her 2 children play sports when she has free time.

Madison McBride is in her 7th year as an Athletic Trainer and her first year as the Head Athletic Trainer at Lancaster High School. Madison received her BS in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University and her MS in Athletic Training from Tarleton State University. Madison strives to give back and positively influence the athletic training profession. When she is not at work, Madison enjoys spending time with her family. ​

Chris Smith

Chris Smith is currently in his 2nd year as an Athletic Trainer in Burleson ISD. Chris received his BS in Health & Wellness Promotion from Texas State University, his MS in Athletic Training from Tarleton State University. Chris also attended Ohio University to receive his Doctorate of Athletic Training. When he is not working, Chris enjoys spending time with his family, trying new restaurants and staying physically active.  ​

Kamden Phillips

Kamden Phillips is an athletic trainer at Keller High School. A graduate of SWOSU in 2014, Kam has been an AT for 11 years, 10 of which have been in the secondary setting. Outside of work, Kam enjoys getting out on the golf course and cheering on his favorite teams. Kam has been involved in athletic training since his sophomore year of high school which has given him a lot of great experiences.

Vander Castillo is a BOC Certified and State Licensed Athletic Trainer. A graduate of San Diego State and Long Beach State, Vander is the owner of V Six Athletic Training in Frisco. Outside of work, Vander enjoys spending time with family, watching his niece and nephews basketball and volleyball games. He also enjoys stand up comedy shows and will always root for his Los Angelos Lakers.
